Summary Education Department plans action against 41 Lahore government schools where Grade 9 pass rates fell below 20%, with show-cause notices for heads and teachers over poor results.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Education Department has decided to take action against government schools that recorded poor results in the annual Grade 9 examinations.
Show-cause notices will be issued to heads and relevant teachers of 41 government schools in Lahore where the Grade 9 pass rate remained below 20 percent.
According to sources, school heads and teachers will be asked to explain the poor academic performance of students, while their overall performance will also be reviewed.
It is worth mentioning that not a single student from Government High School Wasanpura passed the Grade 9 examination, while the number of successful students remained below 10 in 27 other government schools across Lahore.
According to Education Department statistics, nearly 2,200 government schools across Punjab recorded a Grade 9 pass rate of less than 20 percent.
Officials said the reasons behind the poor results would be sought from the heads and relevant teachers of underperforming schools. The performance of officers and teachers deemed responsible for the poor results will be examined in detail before deciding the future course of action.
The Education Department said the move aims to improve the quality of education in government schools, enhance students’ academic results and determine responsibility for poor performance.
