RAWALPINDI – Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, met a delegation from US-based defence and critical infrastructure company POWERUS at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, with discussions covering defence technology, procurement and opportunities for cooperation.

The delegation, led by Robert Bret Velicovich, visited GHQ and held talks with Field Marshal Asim Munir on matters of mutual interest. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting also included discussion on the evolving trends in defence technology and areas where the two sides could strengthen engagement.

The talks focused on defence procurement and production, as well as opportunities to enhance capacity in relevant areas. The discussions come as Pakistan continues to explore technological solutions and partnerships aimed at strengthening its defence and national security capabilities.

Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasised the importance of technological innovation and modern solutions in further strengthening national security and enhancing the country's resilience and capabilities, according to ISPR.

The meeting also covered potential cooperation in defence equipment procurement and manufacturing. The two sides discussed ways to build capacity and develop greater cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The engagement highlighted the role of changing defence technologies in shaping modern security requirements. The discussions provided an opportunity for the Pakistani side and the US-based delegation to exchange views on technological developments and their potential applications in defence and critical infrastructure.

ISPR said both sides expressed interest in further strengthening engagement and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting between Field Marshal Asim Munir and the POWERUS delegation comes against the broader backdrop of Pakistan-US engagement on bilateral relations and regional developments.
