Summary Lahore High Court rejects a petition seeking PTI activist Falak Javed’s recovery and directs her lawyer to challenge her physical remand before the Anti-Terrorism Court.
LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – The Lahore High Court has rejected a petition seeking the recovery of PTI social media activist Falak Javed, declaring it unnecessary and directing her lawyer to approach the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
Justice Shahbaz Rizvi heard the petition filed by Falak Javed’s father, Javed Iqbal, who had made the Home Secretary, Punjab Inspector General of Police and others respondents in the case.
The petitioner’s lawyer was directed to approach the ATC. The lawyer argued that Falak Javed was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail but was arrested again immediately after her release.
According to the lawyer, a report submitted to the High Court had stated that no case was registered against Falak Javed, while her arrest following her release was declared illegal.
During the hearing, the lawyer told the court that Falak Javed had been granted bail in the fake video case. However, on the same day, Race Course Police arrested her in a May 9 case and obtained her physical remand.
The lawyer said Falak Javed was arrested through a supplementary statement and her remand was obtained without producing her before the ATC.
Assistant Advocate General Punjab Farrukh Khan Lodhi told the court that Falak Javed had been placed on physical remand by the ATC. The lawyer informed the court that she was scheduled to be produced before the court again today.
The court questioned how the petition was maintainable and directed the petitioner’s lawyer to approach the ATC. Justice Shahbaz Rizvi clarified that the High Court was not deciding the remand case and directed the lawyer to challenge the remand granted to Falak Javed before the relevant court.
The petition had sought directions for Falak Javed’s recovery and release. However, the Lahore High Court rejected the petition.
