Summary Judges praise measures that have helped reduce pending cases across Punjab judiciary
LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – A full court meeting of the Lahore High Court (LHC) was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, with judges expressing strong appreciation for her judicial reforms and policies aimed at ensuring timely justice for litigants.
All proposals presented during the meeting were unanimously approved.
The meeting reviewed the reforms introduced by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and measures aimed at reducing the backlog of cases and ensuring the timely disposal of matters. The judges also expressed their confidence in the policies adopted to improve judicial efficiency and facilitate litigants.
A documentary highlighting various projects implemented through the use of information technology was also shown during the meeting. The judges appreciated the significant reduction in pending cases at both the Lahore High Court and the district judiciary, and paid tribute to the chief justice for her efforts towards improving the judicial system.

Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh could not attend as he was abroad, while Justice Farooq Haider was absent due to ill health. Justice Muzammil Akhtar Shabbir also could not attend because of personal commitments.
The judges unanimously approved all proposals presented at the meeting and expressed their support for the chief justice's initiatives concerning judicial reforms, case management and timely justice.
New courtrooms
Following the meeting, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, accompanied by the judges, inaugurated the Lahore High Court's new state-of-the-art multi-storey building.
The 11-storey structure comprises a ground floor, eight upper floors and two basement levels. It houses 26 new courtrooms, adding significantly to the existing judicial infrastructure of the Lahore High Court.
The LHC already has 42 courtrooms, while the new building has increased the total number of courtrooms by providing 26 additional courts.
The two basement floors of the new building have been designated as parking areas for judges' vehicles. A modern conference room has also been established on one floor, while two floors have been allocated for judicial record rooms.
The new building also includes cafeteria facilities for Lahore High Court employees and police personnel.
The inauguration was attended by the judges of the Lahore High Court, marking the completion of another major addition to the court's infrastructure as part of efforts to improve judicial facilities and support more efficient case disposal.
