Summary DPM Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will represent Pakistan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement (Makkah Accord) will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye on Monday (today).
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will represent Pakistan at the meeting.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will also be attended by the respective Foreign Ministers, Defence Ministers and Chiefs of General Staff of Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan's participation reflects its historic bonds of friendship with the brotherly countries of Türkiye and Saudi Arabia and its desire for lasting regional peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reached Turkiye to participate in the first high-level meeting under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia.

The visit comes at a significant time for regional security, with the three countries moving to strengthen defence coordination under the agreement signed earlier this month.
According to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit is aimed at further strengthening defence and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye.
During his stay, he is expected to hold important meetings with Turkish political and military leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation.
