ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government has abolished the five-litre petrol limit per token under its fuel relief scheme for eligible citizens.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said global oil prices had increased significantly, prompting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to launch a special relief programme for the public amid the prevailing situation.
She said the prime minister had also announced that registration messages for the scheme would be completely free.
The government has removed the previous five-litre limit per fuel token.

Motorcyclists, Qingqi riders and rickshaw drivers who purchase less than five litres of petrol will receive a weekly discount of Rs500, she added.
Fatima said all motorcycles and Qingqis registered after January 1, 2006, would be eligible to register for the scheme.
According to the minister, 91.6 percent of registrations under the programme are for two- and three-wheelers, while vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc account for 8.4 percent.
She said fuel tokens had so far been issued to 1,493,848 citizens, while 655,067 had already received fuel.
The minister urged beneficiaries not to share personal information with anyone to avoid fraud.
